Does someone at YouTube hate cryptocurrencies?
While watching a video on YouTube this morning, I saw Davinci15’s YouTube channel was terminated by YouTube. Davinci is no longer able to upload to his channel. He is an early investor in Bitcoin and has made accurate predictions on the cryptocurrency market.
This is not the first time YouTube has banned a cryptocurrency YouTube channel. In July, Altcoin Daily run by two brothers, Aaron and Austin, tweeted that their channel of 216,000 subscribers was terminated by YouTube. They said their channel was a news and information resource on cryptocurrencies. Since then, their channel has been reinstated.
In March this year, YouTube banned another cryptocurrency YouTube channel for breaking terms of their agreement. Moon, the YouTube creator said there was “nothing wrong with the content.” He received a warning that his latest video titled “Warning!!! Financial crisis has begun! Bitcoin not a safe haven in this bloodbath?” was violating terms laid out in the “sale of regulated goods and services policy.”
The policy made no mention of digital assets but because not all cryptocurrencies are officially approved by the US government, there is some room for misinterpretation.
Moon had 89,000 subscribers on his channel. Another YouTube creator, Ivan on Tech had 216,000 subscribers and his channel was reinstated after repeated calls to YouTube.
The US government has been cracking down on cryptocurrencies that act like a security. Cryptocurrency has been called the wild wild west as governments are slow to react to this new digital currency. For years, people were buying and selling cryptocurrencies without getting taxed until a few years ago.
Cryptocurrencies have existed since 2009 and YouTube is terminating channels. Last year, YouTube responded they had accidentally terminated channels.
YouTube is the second most visited social media platform in the world and many think they have no reason to terminate these cryptocurrency channels. These are some other channels that were terminated:
- Chris Dunn TV
- Hedi
- Chris Coney (The CryptoVerse)
- Bitcoin and Coffee
- EXPERIENCE CRYPTO 24/7
- Chico Crypto
- CryptoBeadles
- Sunnydecree
- Node Investor
- Crypto Rich
- Boxmining
- Pygoz
- Alessio Rastani
- Mr_Kristof
- Crypto Daily
- The Modern Investor
- Joey Rocket Cryptos
- Rice Crypto
- That Martini Guy
- Nugget’s News
Some of these channels have been reinstated and continue to provide useful information on cryptocurrency content.
